Sinful Colors Ruby, Ruby

Who doesn't love Sinful? Great colors, even better price...perfect!

This one is a bit of a departure for me. Red is one of my favorite colors but I really don't like a lot of red polishes. I have three favorites of the ones I do own and Ruby, Ruby is one.
This is a classic shiny red that is utterly season-less. I bought this last winter at the behest of my husband. Like most men I've encountered, he thinks red nails are sexy and totally feminine. I'm of the mind that red can be tricky. The wrong shade will look tacky or just simply boring because it's so ubiquitous. This shade is very classic, it evokes images of classic Hollywood starlets. However, it also makes me think of PVC fetish wear and trannies. Because I'm weird like that. Oddly, both are pretty classic to me.

The formula on this is a bit watery and nicely pigmented. I did two coats and nice coverage. Three would probably be best but I didn't have time. This is the first time I've worn it on my fingers but I can attest to the wear on my toes. Phenomenal! It withstood my trip to Cancun last January. Walking on the beach and playing in the surf didn't chip it or dull it.

Two coats, indoors at the window, no top coat.
This is amazingly shiny without top coat. Add a coat of Seche and it's like patent leather on your nails.
Super hot!
Just a word about my pics:
Apologies for the proof of my messy application. I get too excited to take pictures and post. I usually don't have a lot of time to do a proper clean up anyway. I do all this before work almost every day and then I'm off and running. It's a small thing that makes me happy!

  1. I'm not great at polish application either. Especially red! I don't know what it is but I do make a real mess of it. I love red polish. I just don't wear it enough. It's a pretty shade of red on you.
