Win some, lose some.

Good morning all!
Today is my Monday and I am back to work. I was able to enjoy some of the gorgeous weather, spent time with my sister and had lunch with my work bestie.
It wasn't all sunshine and lollipops though. My aunt in Florida passed away after a long struggle with a brain tumor. We gathered at my mom's on Wednesday to celebrate her life with a big spaghetti dinner and Auntie's favorite drink of Irish creme.
Gratefully, mom was able to go to Florida this summer and spend two weeks with her and she is consoling herself with that.

It was a mix of good, bad and sad. Auntie was shown my blog by mom and she was just tickled with the pictures and my enthusiasm for nail polish. I asked her if she had any requests of colors she wanted to see but she never was able to get back to me.

So I chose OPI Baby It's Coal Outside to show you today.

Two coats, no top coat

This is a lovely black creme with silver glitter. It has the tough, darkness but it's much more whimsical with the silver glitter. The formula is the best of most OPIs I've worn and I was surprised. This is opaque in two coats.
Dry time is okay, usually enhanced by a fast dry top coat.

I was surprised that OPI had added this to their holiday collection last year. The previous year's collection had some pretty colors but it didn't have the same pizazz.

I think this was a good choice for Auntie. She was tough and funny and loving. It's sad she's no longer here but it was a privilege to have had the time we did.

Thank you for coming by. Enjoy your day.

  2. Thank you, Brooke. It was really hard for my mom because Auntie wasn't just a big sister, she was like mom. My mom comes from a really big family (18 kids.) and Auntie was the oldest.
    We miss her.

  4. How sad to hear of your Aunt's passing. That's really nice to celebrate her life with dinner and drinks. Your poor Mother. It must really be hard for her since her sister wasn't close by. Just remember she always be in your memories and hearts. Nice nail polish to celebrate her life with. God bless all of you.
