It's time!

 **Update**
I have installed a new poll widget that does not require a sign in. I re-submitted my girl, Cozmedic's,  vote. Please re-vote if yours was lost in the shuffle!

Good evening, loves!

Now is the time to show you all of the great mani pics I was sent for my giveaway. I do not envy you all having to judge these because they are all so fantastic. Then again that's why I'm giving you the task!

The polls are already set up on the sidebar. Be sure to click for next poll at the bottom right so you can vote in both! Boy, did I get some amazing name suggestions! I am so excited!

Let's get to the good stuff and take a look at these gorgeous nails!

Danielle's Blue Streak
It has such lovely sparkle and that blue is stunning!
Kada's Girly Manicure
I love the whimsy and sweetness of this!
It really evokes the cheer and freedom one felt when flying free on your bike as a kid, no?
Plus, how cool is this nail art?

Thriszha's Hot Wheels
This is such a fun look and it looks like little wheels!
Take another look here:
Thriszha's nails always look amazing, don't they?

This sweet number is from Thess.
Where do you start on all the great things this mani has?
I love how the dashes continue on the nails, the sun shining on the index and *squee* the bike IS SO CUTE!

This is Kada's Grownup manicure.
You know how I love purple and the different textures of this are gorgeous.
This is exceptionally sophisticated and the half moons evoke that vintage glamour.

How amazing are these manicures? I just love them all so much! So, please go and vote! Voting will continue until 12:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time on March 9. Best of luck and many thanks to these amazing and talented ladies!

Rock hard, Ride free (Last call for entries in my giveaway!!)

Good evening, my loves!

I'm bringing you a look to maybe stoke the fires for entries in my giveaway. It's also a first for me!
My second contest asked you to present a manicure to either coordinate with my bike or just evoke the feeling of going for a bike ride, like when you were a kid. Fun, right? I have never done a mani to match another object before so I thought it only right to try and match my bike. Especially since I'm asking you to do some work! ;)
Without further ado, my manicure!

Base is Wet n' Wild Craze Shield
Stripes are Orly Calypso Breeze and Art Club stripers in red and white

I think it looks really fun though I'm not super pleased with how Calypso Breeze worked as a striper. Eh, what ya gonna do? The best part is that this took all of twenty minutes. Three coats of Shield which dried really fast and a couple of quick swipes for nail art. What took the longest was waiting for coats to dry.

That's gonna do it for me tonight! I just want to repeat yet again that TOMORROW is the last day to enter!!! You have until 12:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time to email your entries to me! Send me a pic of your manicure or a name for my bike. Or both! It's up to you!  Be sure to email them to mightylambchop AT gmail DOT com.

Goodnight everybody. Hope you've had an enchanted evening!

Good morning my loves!

I woke up this morning feeling a combination of happiness and meh. I'm meh because I feel overwhelmed. Not nearly enough time to do the things I want. That bums me out. But it's all good because I have reasons to be happy. You guys are a huge part of that. Thank you!

What I do want to discuss today is is the sample of Skin MD shielding lotion I was sent to review.

I received a sample a couple of weeks ago and I decided to really give it a go. As I have told you repeatedly, I work at a non-profit retail thrift store and I do almost everything and anything in a given day. This means I process merchandise, handle money, re-merchandise shelves and do paperwork. I'm in constant contact with dirt and other unpleasantness so I wash my hands many, many times a day.
I couldn't seem to find the right hand lotion to keep my hands moisturized, cuticles from becoming ragged and my fingertips from peeling. Skin MD has really saved me there.
I keep my bottle in my purse at all times and apply it after each hand washing. It's light, absorbs quickly and is fragrance free. You can feel a slight film on the skin that actually feels really nice. It's smooth and almost powdery. I liken it to some of the silicone based makeup primers and the skin feel they have once applied.
My hands feel so much better and still full of moisture the next time I go to wash my hands. I have less irritation from the cleaners I use at work and my fingertips have finally stopped peeling! This has even helped my problem cuticle on my right hand. No matter what, that bad boy was thick, raggedy and hella annoying. No more and I am grateful! When it comes to my nail polish and nail art, Skin MD has been a real treat. Even if I wasn't using an acetone remover to clean my nails, I do use pure acetone to clean my Konad supplies. Y'all know how that sucks away moisture!

Yay! I have pretty hands again!

I decided to also try this lotion on my face and body. I'm a sucker for multi-use product and this has not let me down. It's tackled the scaly feeling on my legs from shaving and kept my feet nice and tamed the issues I had there. (Let's not go into detail because, really, feet are creepy. Just saying.)
What really excited me was using it as a facial moisturizer. I have such issues finding the right kind of moisturizer. I have adult acne, combination skin and I'm over thirty. Moisturizers that are too light leaving my face feeling like parchment and those that are too rich give me breakouts and oil spills. Skin MD has the right balance. My face feels soft and any breakouts I've had have been due to stress and hormonal issues. My oily spots don't have the glazed donut look after applying and my drier (but not dry) areas look soft and full rather than stretched and tight.
The shielding action has been great for my face because it's helped my makeup apply smooth and kept my cheeks from getting windburned on my bike ride to work. I'm still using a sunblock on my face but I definitely want to look into the formulation with SPF.

So let's sum things up:

Overall - Feels light, absorbs quickly and is fragrance free. A small amount spreads evenly over a large area. The filmy feeling on skin is not uncomfortable or unpleasant. Skin feels moisturized and looks soft.

Price - It is a bit pricey. It retails at $18 for a 4 oz bottle. However, I've been using mine religiously for two weeks and I am not yet at halfway point. Because it will last you for awhile, I find this to actually be a value.
Since it can be used on face and body as well as hands, this actually helps cut down on the array of products used and the individual expense for each.

Availability - Can be purchased online directly from their website. Is available in Europe, Asia as well as North America. Website has store locator feature for Canada and U.S. Which can be pretty handy if you wish to avoid shipping costs. I even found that one of my local Bi-Mart stores carries it!

The Ethical - It is not tested on animals and it is paraben free. It's hypoallergenic and safe to use in environments where fragrance use is discouraged.

Final judgment - This has been a great product for me and I will definitely be buying it when my bottle gets low. It's saved my hands from the torture of work and playing with nail polish. I'm excited to have Matt use this because he has ridiculously dry skin and I think it's light formulation will be a bonus because he hates the feel of most lotions and creams. I have full confidence that it will do wonders for him too!

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope to be back later on to visit with you. Here's hoping your day brings you some smiles!

Policy of cute

Good morning!

Today I'm showing you a quickie I did early this morning. I had major nail polish fail yesterday so I did something to make it through the day. Today I had to make it better because I just can't NOT do something.

Base is OPI Paris Couture for Sure and Out The Door Northern Lights top coat
Dots and stamp are Zoya Dita
Tips are Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Lickety-split Lime and L.A. Girl Crowd Surfing
Stamp is fauxnad plate B01

Same as above except dots are a pink glitter from Hot Topic.
Knockoff Hello Kitty stamp is in Sinful Fashion Neon
Hello Kitty is from fauxnad plate A02

This is all ridiculously cute for me. But I needed something to cheer me up because my work week has been hell. As it is, I have to have a meeting with my boss sometime before I go on vacation and I'm not looking forward to it. (I just love my boss. He is awesome. I just don't EVER want to let him down.)
Thus, I went over the top with the glitter and pink and adorable. You know what? It's worked.
I'm cracking myself up when I look at it. Three cheers for the restorative power of nail polish!

That, my friends, means I am outta here. Today is my Friday and I can't wait for the day to be over. I hope I can visit you all this "weekend" but I will not make any guarantees. I have shopping for my trip to do, a hair appointment, tanning appointments and a lunch date with my mom.  I suppose I will need to get some sleep in there too! I dearly hope you all are having a good week and I will be seeing you very soon!

P.S. I know it seems so "hard" that I have to do stuff on my weekend but normally I spend those days with you guys and I would much rather do that. Y'all are way more fun and interesting!

I Want Out!

Good morning my loves!
I don't know about you but I had one hell of a weekend. It made me really anxious for my vacation, that's for damn sure.

Today I am bringing you an oldie and HTF polish that Matt scored for me on ebay.

Orly Satin Hues in Satin Royalty.
Two coats over one coat of Nailtek Foundation II
Indoor light

I chose this as my nail of the day for yesterday. I had no idea just how sheer this was going to be. I was really surprised. I believe this is full of the big 3 but I'm not certain. I could have looked at the ingredients but I did not. Anyway. This applied fluidly albeit streaky. I never could quite get the streaks to even out at least not without applying several coats. Which is too bad because it has a slight duochrome going on that flashes blue and pink. Very pretty but hard to capture on camera. The satin finish is delightful and has a lovely subdued glow.

I was undaunted by the sheerness, so I decided to keep going and see what kind of result I would get.

Three coats over one of Nailtek Foundation II

As you can see, the color deepens with each coat but it would take an unholy amount of coats to really match the darkness of the bottle color. I really like this color so I decided I'd go with it and try some nail art to cover my smile lines. Good thing I went to the mall with Matt and picked up something to help with that.

Art Club Nail Art Kit

I found this at Ross while looking for new golf shirts for Matt. Score!

So I used the silver glitter striper and I gave myself this look:

BTW, I added a FOURTH coat before I did this.
The good news is it dried incredibly fast.

I really like how it turned out. It's kind of a sleeper mani. It's a little subtle but it has so much dimension.
To sum it all up, I really do like this but I will most likely use it to layer with. It's way too hard to build color and keep the streaks under control. I will say that I think my Orly fangirl status is getting out of control. I'm stalking all kinds of HTF Orly on ebay now. Oy.

That will do it for me today. I have another challenging day at work and some chores to finish. I hope your week will treat you well or at least better than mine is ending. Have a great day!

Metal health WILL drive you mad.

Good day, my loves!

I've spent my morning re-designing my blog yet again because it's time to expand to the three column layout. This was a lot harder than last time! I tried to find a layout that would be easy on the eyes for reading and have a neutral color scheme to keep from detracting from swatches. I'm quite pleased. What do you think?

Today I am bringing you another L.A. Girl Rock Star. I swear, I am slowly collecting them all!

Two coats, no base or top in full sun

This is Headbanging and it's a great turquoise glittery shimmer. It applies rather sheer so three coats will take care of any VNL. Formula is easy to work with and control and the dry time is fantastic with thin coats. A little thicker coats and you'll be waiting just a snotch longer but not too much!
I actually liked that this applied sheer because it could be really fun to layer with. Eventually, I will be trying that! This is also a contender for Cancun. Can't decide if I would wear it as a mani or pedi though! Oh, the choices in my life are soo hard! ;)

I got this little baby at my local Fred Meyer store but it is available at Cherry Culture. I really love all of the Rock Star collection I've picked up thus far. These are high quality polishes at a great price. I highly recommend!

That's it for now, y'all. I for reals have to do some chores and then my work week starts up yet again tomorrow! Have a lovely day and I hope some sunshine comes your way!

No, no, never

Good morning, loves!

Today I am bringing you another little taste of my Diamond Cosmetics haul. (If you're curious about the title, it's taken from the German Eurovision entry of 2006. Not a complaint about the polish!)

Never So Evergreen
Two coats, no base or top in sun

How could I not love this color? It's unique and unlike anything else in my stash. This is more like a real pine green but made even  more gorgeous with golden shimmer/glitter.

This applied fluidly but a touch streaky. Three coats evens out completely and is best for full coverage. Dry time is acceptable but not exceptional. This is a gorgeous, gorgeous color and a great value for only two dollars! I may have to try this for a Duck Day mani when baseball season starts...

That's it for me now. I need some breakfast and the peanut butter on toast is calling my name!

Thank you for looking and I hope the day finds you well.

Sweet, sweet Connie, doin' her act

Good evening!

I have been having such a good time with my new fauxnad plates! I'm a little overwhelmed with the possibilities since there are so many great designs. Today, I did this mani in tribute to my co-worker. She loves pink and was terribly impressed when I told her I bought my second pink polish ever. I've said before that I just don't really care for pink. However, I can make the exception for a retina searing neon pink.

China Glaze Recycle on thumb, index, middle and pinkie
Sinful Colors in Fashion Neon on ring over Nailene French Tip White
Star stamps in Fashion Neon, Konad Special Polish Metallic Pink and China Glaze Millennium
(The metallic pink Konad polish is from my Coraline set.)

I loved how this turned out. It's so 80's and makes me think of the cartoon Jem. I couldn't bring myself to do a whole mani in the neon only because I really wanted to do something with grey and pink.
Fashion Neon applies streaky but becomes opaque in three coats and evens out nicely. I applied it over white just to speed things up and only have to use two coats. This is one of my all time favorites and made me smile all day long.

I was so inspired by this mani that I went all out for work today. I wore the only pink shirt I own and gave myself super sparkly eyes with the Fyrinnae eyeshadow samples I won. (They are so fabulous! I must swatch them!) I tried to take a picture of my eye but it came out really wonky and I didn't have time to have Matt take the shot. Essentially, I ended up with a pink and green eye look that was really pretty, sparkly and fun.

The reaction to my tribute? My girl loved it! Doing this was fun and just the start of a really great day!

So, how was your Saturday? I hope fun and relaxing!

** Now I must spam you with my giveaway biz! Don't forget to enter for a special Cancun souvenir! (And some nail polish too. Ha!) Details are HERE! **

This is dedicated to the woman (women!) I love...

Good evening my loves!
I think my post title is appropriate tonight because: A. it's a quote from an awesome Thin Lizzy song and if you know me, you know how I worship Phil Lynott.  B. The important reason is because I am grateful to each and all of you who have followed my blog, shared tips, encouraged me and stopped by to give a virtual hug when I've been down.
Finding this community hasn't just given me a hobby I love or hours of entertainment, it's given me the opportunity to make new friends. I am so grateful to you all and I always want you to know just how much you mean to me.

In the spirit of this lovefest, I am having a little giveaway to thank you for your friendship!
I wanted to do something a little different and I decided to have two mini contests. There are two separate prizes and it requires a little creativity!

First contest:

This requires a little back story. I don't drive so I commute by bike. I've owned this bike for two years and it's been great. But I have never named it. I named my first car, Matt has named his motorcycle but my poor bike is a nameless workhorse. This seems a little unfair, don't you think? So, I am asking you to name my bike.

Hot Wheels!

The winner of this contest will be receiving this prize:

Left to right:
Sinful Just You Wait
L.A. Colors Reflections
Revlon Fantasy Lengths Lashes in Flirty
Nailene Bedazzle Nail Art Earth Angel decals
University of Oregon lip balm (tangerine flavor)
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Red Carpet
Wet n' Wild French White Creme

Second contest:

I want to see a manicure to coordinate with my bike. It does not have to match the colors exactly. You are free to choose whatever colors, finishes or nail art that you like. What I want to see is your vision. Whether it be a childhood memory or just the images that appear when you think of going for a bike ride. Express it on your nails!
Now, just in case you do want to try and match my bike, here is a close up shot:
As seen on T.V. baby!

The winner of this contest will receive this prize package:

Left to right:
Love & Beauty glitter polish
University of Oregon lip balm (spearmint flavor)
Revlon Fantasy Lengths lashes in Blue Shadow
Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Emerald City
Wet n' Wild Black Creme
L.A. Colors Metallic Copper
Cala Nail Art decals

Pretty sweet! But now it is time to lay out the rules and regulations.

1. You MUST be a follower. Click on the Google friend connect to join!

2. Send me an email with the subject line "Bike Contest." In the body, give me the name you choose for my bike or attach a picture of your bike inspired manicure. Or both! You can enter both contests if you like! Be sure to include your email address! My email is mightylambchop AT gmail DOT com.

3. Entries will be accepted until 12:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time February 26.

4. I will select the top 5 entries from each contest and submit them to you to vote on.

5. Voting will continue until 12:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time March 9.

6. This is open to EVERYBODY, including my international readers! Please be warned that if a winner is selected from outside of North America, it may take a little longer to receive your prize. Partly because I will be out of the country the day after the winners are announced!

7. The winners will be announced on March 10, 2010. I will email the winners for information on where to send your prize.

As an added bonus and enticement, each winner will receive a small surprise from Cancun! It could be a pack of gum, a shot glass or a hot cabana boy! Who knows? Just know that it will be picked out by me, Matt and my sister and we will most likely be drunk when we make the decision. Just sayin' is all.

I'm super excited about this guys! I hope you will enter and I look forward to seeing some great things!

That will do it for me now. I'm off to twitter the good news and then do my nails again!

In the meantime, please enjoy Thin Lizzy's "Dedication."

Two tickets to paradise

Good morning, loves!

I recently received my set of fauxnad plates and I've been inspired! Oddly enough, I was inspired for my current look by a pair of sweatpants. Weird, right? The pants I have are Roxy brand and they have a tropical flower graphic on the left leg. Since I'm so excited for my vacation and really tired of cold weather, I felt a tropical inspired manicure was in order!

Orly Green with Envy base
Konad Special polish in white, metallic blue and pink
Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Lightening, Snappy Sorbet and Lickety-Split Lime

All designs from one plate

I'm pretty thrilled with how this turned out. I ended up using four coats of Green With Envy but it was no big deal since it dries crazy quick. Three would've been just fine but I overdid. Just sayin'.
I love my new plate sets, I even have the knock off Hello Kitty on one. So my sister will be getting a sweet pedicure from me. There will be more fauxnad looks to come for sure!

That's it for now, guys. Please come back later when I announce my giveaway at 7 p.m. PST!
Thank you for looking and have a great day!

There's a killer on the loose again, a lady killer on the loose

Good day friends!

It's good to be back. My week was ridiculously full of problem after problem. Laptop, work and sweating it out until my sister got her passport. So it's all good here on out. Except for the whole not having enough time for pretty much anything. I've ramped up my workouts to get ready for Cancun and my social calendar keeps filling up. Sucks to be me, right? ;)

So let's talk about polish instead, okay?

 Diamond Cosmetics Hue Are You?
Two coats, no base or top in SUN!!!

I was able to do a little Diamond haul back in December and fulfilled some major lemmings. This one was a sleeper for me. I kept looking at swatches on Nailgal and debating on whether or not I really wanted it. It seemed a "mature" color to me. I decided to pick it up and if I didn't care for it, I'd just give it to my mom. Well, I fell in love.

Hue Are You is a nice berry wine with golden bronze shimmer. In bright sun, the shimmer looked kind of holo because it threw off a lot of different colors. Pretty snazzy!
Formula was lovely. Could not believe this is what I got in two coats. I'd still go with three because that's my way. What I did not care for was dry time.
Took a snotch longer than I cared for but the color is so pretty that I will be sure to give myself plenty of time.
Wear was not real hot the first time I wore it. (My swatch is the second time I wore it and ended up doing the full mani.) I didn't prep my nails well and then at work I had to work in drive-through so sorting donations took their toll on my hands.

This was my first experience with Diamond and I'm terribly pleased. Great colors and an even better price. I do believe I will be shopping with them again. Plus, they gave great customer service. They emailed me to let me know that my package would be a day late because they temporarily lost my order. I appreciated that they owned up to the mistake and informed of the delay. Seriously, I know shit happens.

So that's it for now, friends. I'm off to get my haircut and then I'm taking a trip to the neatest, kookiest local drug store by campus. I have a couple of small things to pick up and then I will be ready to announce my 100 followers giveaway! Stay tuned!

I'm super, thanks for asking.

Good morning loves!

Sorry for the long break. My laptop is still not fixed so Matt has to take it back to Best Buy to get right. Boo.
However, I do have a nail look to show you that I did yesterday for the Super Bowl.

That's right. I was rooting for the Saints!
China Glaze Twenty-four K, Wet n' Wild Black Creme base
Orly Dazzle to stamp Fleur de Lis
Black creme stripe and L.A. Colors Art Deco Gold glitter stripe

This was truly a quick and dirty mani. I did it around 7 yesterday morning before work. Sadly, I didn't have time to photograph this when it was fresh so what you are seeing is after work. I'm not fully pleased with this because I could have done better. But I was tired and Trixie was demanding my attention. I'm also annoyed with how hard the black was to clean up around my cuticles. I'm just being picky.

That's all for now guys. I'm getting ready to wrap up a long and challenging work week. I hope to have a sweet giveaway to announce soon because I'm currently at 99 followers. Keep watching!
Thank you always for coming by and I hope your week will be trouble free.

It's a blackout tonight!

Good morning loves!

Just a quick post to let you know that I'm on a brief hiatus. Matt will be reformatting my laptop tomorrow. I had an issue MONTHS ago that he thought he fixed. Turns out he needed  specific recovery discs for my VAIO.
Months later and less $35, the discs are here and my computer can be back to normal.
I'll actually be able to use my SD slot now! (You don't want to know how I've been transferring my pictures.)

I hope to be back at it by Saturday night. In the meantime, I want to leave you with at least one nail polish pic.

China Glaze Dreamsicle
Three coats, no base or top, in sun

I love this so much and I'm thrilled to have found it at Sally on clearance. The orange base is sheer but builds really well. I will most likely use this as a layering item and I'm certain it will look fantastic over Zoya Lianne.
Did I try this matte? Why, yes I did.

It's not as cool as some glitters with matte top coat. I think that's due to more to the orange base. A darker base really shows the textural element when a matte coat is applied. It was still fun to try!

That's it for now, loves. Hope to be with you soon!

I need something sweet

Good morning, loves!
I'm back from a brief break. My work week was very long and hectic. I have had much going on! I got to see my cousin's brand new baby and my uncle whom I have not seen since 1985! It was amazing. The baby is so gorgeous and sweet!
Sadly, I had a little setback on Sunday. I am hypoglycemic and my blood sugar dropped really low that day and I almost passed out at work. It was really bad and very upsetting because I usually have my blood sugar under control. I've been having some problems maintaining so now I have to reevaluate my diet. Boo.
The good thing about it happening at work is learning just how awesome my friends there are.

That said, let's move on to what's really important: new nail nail polish!

First up is Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Lickety Split Lime!

Two coats, no base or top, sunlight from my window
(It was raining but still sunny so I decided not to go outside for this.)

Let's get the brush issue out of the way. They are weird. Like big mops but flat and wide. I actually like the brush but I do have a complaint. It holds on to a little too much polish. That's what makes application tricky.
It's also what makes these a one coat polish. You could glop it on one stroke, clean and be done with it. But that's not very pretty, is it?
On to the color: It's a yellow leaning green that does not evoke lime as much as it does avocado. Or avocado with lime. I was a little disappointed because it's not as bright and vibrant as I would like. I wore this as a full mani and got a lot of compliments but I thought it looked like I had been eating guacamole with my hands.
This will definitely go into the pile of  Konad only because it stamps beautifully. (And looks punchier in small doses stamped over another color.) Win some, lose some.

Next up is is Snappy Sorbet!

Both are two coats, no base or top in sunlight from the window.

This is a sweet peachy, coral that really shines in full sun or bright light. It has the tiniest amount of shimmer in bottle but none on the nail. I adore the shade but again, I am having no luck with shades like this. It was streaky, patchy and needs at least three coats to even everything out. What I did for my picture was apply two thick coats. I spite of this being a quick dry polish, thick coats take a long time to dry. So thin coats are best with careful application for this little number. Another bit of good news with this is it too Konads brilliantly. So if you hate the brush and can't bear to paint it on your nails, use it for nail art!

That's it for me now. I'm off to make some breakfast, do chores and get a workout in before I meet up with Matt. I'm making him take me to the mall so I can stalk some new nail polish. There may be some goodies for an upcoming giveaway as a result of my hunting!

Thanks for stopping by! Hope the day treats you well!
