My shameful secret

Good morning guys!

Also, Happy Canada Day! I love Canada and I thank you very much for Rush, Anvil, Annihilator, Voivod and Cryptopsy. Thanks for also showing me a good time in Toronto. I will be back!

So today I don't have much in the way of nail polish but I did want to show you something.

Today's mani is Mattiz #10.
Purchased from my hotel in Cancun.

I bought this little book eons ago when I worked at Old Navy. I even remember how much I paid for it, because I'm cheap but whatever. (78 cents. It was on clearance and I got my employee discount.)
Anyway, I almost always have some little blank book or note pad with me. This little book is my constant companion and one of my most jealously guarded possessions.

Let me show you it:

I've swatched almost all of my polishes inside.
Quite helpful when shopping.

I've also tried out several of my image plates inside.
Helps when I'm blogging my Konad/Fauxnad.
But I haven't finished doing that. Oops.

I've decorated it with little pics and stickers I got from my former subscription to Metal Hammer. Those were good times...
This also holds my lists for albums I want to buy and bands to check out.

There's more than this but eh, I'm already being a pain in the ass.
P.S. MOTORHEAD!!!!

I guess you could say my little book serves more as inspiration. But you haven't seen the worst of it.
This is my biggest, deepest, darkest and shameful secret:

I write poetry. Badly.
I will NEVER subject you to it. I promise.
I want to keep you all as friends.

There you have it. The truth is out. I'm a socially awkward, nail polish obsessed, poetry writing metal head.
Not that it was much of a secret. Except maybe the poetry part.
As a bonus for sticking with me and because I may as well continue to humiliate myself, I have a picture that I found at my mom's and stuck inside there and promptly forgot about.

Lamby, age 15.
That's a lot of thigh. Yikes.

Do you love the outfit? Oversized tie-dye Iron Maiden shirt, sweatpants cut off into shorts, Angels baseball cap and giant hoop earrings. Missing are my white high tops which were MAGICAL. I was soo glamourous as a teen.

I know, you're jealous. I would be too if it wasn't me.

I vaguely recall having this pic taken and I know I thought I looked REALLY good. Oy. This was the summer after my freshman year of high school in California. That was a really good summer too...(I am not sharing those stories though. I could still get in trouble with my mom.)
I still root for the Angels and I still adore Iron Maiden. I'm less fond of tie-dye though. And white high tops.

I hope you've enjoyed this glimpse. I think it's pretty funny myself.
Now it's time for you to share. What's your secret hobby that you can't admit to people? What are the biggest fashion faux pas from your past?
Don't hold back!!

Have a great day guys!

  1. Okay, you and I have so much in common it's a little scary! I used to swatch every polish I had in a notebook and carry it with me, but I haven't had much time to. Second, I also write. A lot. Mostly essays and opinion pieces that I'm terrified to allow anyone else to read. (Us quirky girls need to stick together!)

Also, you have not aged at all. What the heck is your secret?

  3. I swear to God, I have a book JUST like that. In fact, I have...close to 20 of them. I've been keeping them since I was 14! And like yours, mine are full of (bad) poetry and old concert tickets and band crap from over the years.

I love that you were sharp enough to include polish swatches in yours. It makes me slightly jealous that I didn't think of it myself!
