Good morning!
Last month, I entered the Rite Aid Nail Extravaganza nail art contest. I was not one of the finalists so I can show you the design I created for the contest. (I am a sad Lamb...)
I'm disappointed because I thought it was a snazzy design that incorporated a lot of trends and was easy to do.
However, there were a lot of really amazing designs so...it's cool. I look forward to seeing the finalists and kind of don't envy that they will be judged by Essie AND Suzi. (I know little to nothing about this Julie G. All I know is that I did not care for the first nail collection with her name on it. The new one seems okay.)
So, allow me to show you what I did and break it all down.
Cancun Sunrise by MightyLambchop
I had to give this one a name and since it makes me think of all my trips to Cancun, there ya go.
I tried to incorporate some of the big trends. Thus a neon sponged gradient/tape manicure. I really love it and I think it looks fabulous. Of course, I agonized over the creation and almost killed myself in getting it just so.
Here is what I used and how:
Nail polish used were WNW French White Creme, Sinful Fusion/Fashion Neon, Summer Peach and Neon Melon. (There's a rant about Sinful and their naming practices in there but I'll save that for another time.)
I applied two coats of white and then sponged pink, orange and yellow from cuticle to tip. Once that was dry, I cut thin strips of blue painter's tape and applied them diagonally to the nails. Two more coats of white went over the tape and I let dry for a fairly long time. I was worried about smudging so I waited longer than usual.
I removed the tape, cleaned up and applied Out The Door top coat. Finally, I used a sugar scrub on my hands, washed and then applied cuticle oil.
Pretty simple, no? I'm glad I entered and challenged myself a bit. I never enter contests, giveaways and such.
I'm especially proud of this look and I will definitely be doing it again. So, that means I WIN. Yay me!
Thank you for coming by. Hope you have a great weekend!
Reminds me of a bathing suit I once had :P
ReplyDeleteHa! I sure hope it was a bathing suit you liked...
DeleteWell *I* love it. Great use of white, which I typically am not a big fan of. :) Awesome job!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much! I'm so glad you like it. I received a lot of compliments on it so that's validation enough. But...it would've been pretty snazzy to get some nail goodies. ;)
DeleteWaaaaay cool mani =)
ReplyDeleteThanks Erica. I'm really proud of it. And, YAY for finding another nail polish obsessed person in town!
DeleteVery beautiful design and colors!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the compliment, Lani. I really enjoyed this look and I will definitely do it again.
